Uruz - A journey through the land of Scandinavia
Copenhagen to Helsinki
2025
Uruz is a mystical documentary exploring the infrastructures of the Anthropocene embedded within the Nordic landscapes. These structures shape the land — they become the land. Strange objects scattered across a hinterland that was once untouched. They harness the raw power of nature to produce energy for silly humans. Where once Vikings ruled, now corporations control the land between the cities. In barely a hundred years, infrastructures like dams, pipes, and power plants have become what we now consider nature — our cultural heritage. It’s a continuation of the research on archiving infrastructures.

Drushba Freundschaft - post fuel landscape
Schwedt to Adamowo
2023
At the beginning of 2023, I started a research project on the sanctioned Drushba crude oil pipeline—which, before the war in Ukraine, was the main source of crude oil for Berlin and Brandenburg. On foot, I followed its route from the refinery in Schwedt, across Poland to the Belarusian border, applying the methodology of promenadeology developed by Lucius Burckhardt. The journey revealed how deeply the now-obsolete infrastructure has shaped the landscape—it is inseparably interwoven with it. Dismantling it would cause cultural as well as ecological damage. Walking along the pipeline thus became an act of remembrance and of friendship between people, landscape, and infrastructure.
